About This Program

Based on her groundbreaking research at the University of Houston, Brene Brown's Dare to Lead program is an empirically-based courage-building workshop. Over two intensive days, you will explore vulnerability as a leadership skill, learn to identify and address armor (the behaviors we use to self-protect), practice giving and receiving feedback with skill, build trust through the BRAVING framework, and develop resilience in the face of failure. This is not soft skills training — it is the hardest work you will do, because it requires you to look honestly at yourself. Certified Dare to Lead Facilitators deliver the program worldwide.

Should be mandatory for every manager

I manage a team of 30 engineers. I thought leadership was about having answers. Brene's work showed me it is about having the courage to say "I don't know" and "I was wrong." The BRAVING framework for trust fundamentally changed how I run one-on-ones. The rumble skills for difficult conversations saved at least two relationships on my team that were deteriorating. My facilitator was exceptional — created a container where senior executives were crying and laughing in the same hour. Not performative. Real. If your company will pay for it, take it immediately.

Good frameworks, uneven facilitation

The content is brilliant — Brene's research is rigorous and the frameworks are immediately applicable. I use the "story I am telling myself" technique daily. But my facilitator was not great — they stuck too rigidly to the script and could not hold the room when emotions got intense. The quality of the experience depends heavily on who leads it. Also, two days felt rushed. I would have paid more for three. The workbook is excellent though and I refer to it regularly. Overall a strong experience that could have been transformative with a better facilitator.
